Modified MMU2 Spring Selector Plate for Prusa MMU2
Description
The Prusa MMU2 device pushes too much filament into the extruder body, causing the filament to jam and the MMU2 pulley motor to grind a chunk out of the side of the filament causing future load/unload jams during filament changes. This "selector front plate" was modified from the original one provided by Prusa in the following ways: 1) Screw holes were replaced with larger holes to provide friction-fit for 4.7 mm (3/16") brass tubing 2) A concentric channel was added as a friction-fit to hold the spring perfectly around the enlarged hole Parts List: 1x Brass Tube: https://www.mcmaster.com/8950K522 2x Spring: https://www.mcmaster.com/9657K412 2x 50 mm M3 screw 2x 8 mm washer 1x M6 threaded insert (the brass one that came with the selector plate on the MMU2) Assembly: 1) Print the modified selector front plate in your favorite material - I recommend PETG 2) Add the M6 threaded insert to the biggest hole in the middle of the modified selector plate. I used a small vice to force the brass insert into the printed part 3) Cut the brass tube to around 16 mm in length - deburr the O.D. and I.D. 4) Gently force the brass tubes into the remaining holes making sure they will point away from the entire MMU2 assembly once installed 5) Add 50 mm M3 screws + washer + spring and fit it to modified MMU2 front selector plate and attach to MMU2 selector assembly Enjoy the mechanical buffer that *should* prevent filament from getting ground off when the MMU2 misbehaves. Please see attached pictures and video for reference.
