Nerf N-Strike Elite Rough Cut 2x4 Replacement Gear
Description
When the cocking mechanism on my Nerf jammed, I disassembled it and found a broken gear. I remodeled and printed it. Reassembled the Nerf with the printed gear and it works fine again. Update: I seem to have found out, why the Nerf jammed in the first place. The issue seems to occur, when you hold down the trigger, while pulling back the cocking mechanism and bringing it forward again. There's only an issue, if the trigger is really held down during the whole process. If that happens, the trigger will not be able to release the piston. The cocking mechanism will also be locked, i.e. not be able to be pulled back. The simplest solution to this problem is to manually trigger the firing mechanism, by pushing down the lever that releases the piston. This can be done without disassembling the Nerf, because it has one hole on each side, above the trigger (right above the Nerf logo, refer to the following picture: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71kgAATsxYL._SL1500_.jpg (copy the link and paste it into a new tab)). Carefully insert a thin screwdriver (or something else that is thin but sturdy) on the right side of the Nerf (seems to be easier on that side), facing forward at around a 45 degree angle and fish for the firing lever. Patience is required for this part, but it does work, I have tried it several times. By pushing down on the firing lever, the nerf fires (make sure both pistons are released), therefore unblocking the cocking mechanism. In retrospect, I think that the gear broke, because too much force was applied, trying to "unjam" the nerf.
