Solidoodle Bowden/J-Head Adapter Plate w/ X-Axis Endstop

Solidoodle Bowden/J-Head Adapter Plate w/ X-Axis Endstop

Description

This is an adapter plate which allows for the Solidoodle 1, 2, and 3 printers to be converted to a J-head bowden style system. I personally made this upgrade/mod to get rid of the faulty and terribly unreliable stock acrylic sheet hotend and save some weight on the carriage. The plate and clip easily installs using the existing hardware from the old hotend. See the pictures for details. Essentially, all you need is the two long screws that held the extruder to the carriage and their nuts as well as two more short bolts and nuts, and one of the long through bolts on the stepper motor (for the z-axis limit switch). Once retrieved, bolt the plate to the carriage and press in the two nuts for the clamp. Next, place the J-head ring into the groove on the adapter plate and bolt it to the adapter with the two scavenged bolts. Finally, replace the existing z-axis limit switch with the recovered longer screw, recalibrate the z height, secure the bowden tube to the extruder stepper, mount the extruder stepper setup, wire everything back up, and enjoy. The only things that need to be purchased are a new j-head hotend and extruder motor like these: https://www.amazon.com/EAONE-All-Metal-Extruder-Stainless-Makerbot/dp/B074NX68MP/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3W2JEKQ4YL2KD&keywords=jhead+hotend&qid=1552944021&s=gateway&sprefix=jhead+%2Caps%2C482&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/Improved-YOTINO-Extruder-Accessories-Filament/dp/B07BMLD646/ref=sr_1_4?crid=21G8ORF4G1NB2&keywords=filament+feeder&qid=1552944616&s=gateway&sprefix=filament+fee%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-4 If you have any questions, please post them into the comments, and I'll be sure to respond.
