Woodpecker anysize Quadcopter
Description
I tried to make a very lightweight quadcopter to enlarge the flight time with this size of frame and came out with a balsawood-supported design, which comes below 30 grams weight. A former version without many printed parts was my proof of concept (last picture) A bonus of the design is the size of the Quad, by just enlarging the wooden poles; you can build any size you want. A minus on this design is the less durability of balsawood, so you should not crash it, or go with other material (carbon tubes for example). List of Parts, used for this build: Flight controller: HGLRC 20x20mm Micro F4 Flight Controller AIO Betaflight OSD 5V (!Not the best choice in combination with the ESC I used!) ESC: 20x20mm BS-28A 4in1 2-4S BLHELI_S ESC Support PWM Multishot Motors: iFlight Tachyon T1108 5000KV/6000KV Micro Brushless Motor Props: Emax Avan Mini 3x2.4 3-Blatt FPV Race Propeller 6xL 6xR Rot 3024 Receiver: Frsky R9 MM 4/16CH 900MHz Long Range Telemetry Receiver VTX: ImmersionRC Tramp HV 6-18V 5.8GHz 1mW to>600mW Video Transmitter Antenna for VTX: Faironly Lollipop 2 RHCP SMA/RP-SMA 5,8G 2.5dBi Super Mini Antenne für Renndrohne Black UFL Interface Cam: RunCam Split Mini 2 FOV 130 Degree 1080P/60fps HD Recording Battery: BETAFPV 2pcs 850mAh 3S Lipo Battery 11.1V 35C/70C XT30 Plug for Micro FPV Racing Drone Glue: IncrediblyStrong GORILLA GLUE (keep in mind, that this glue expands while it hardens, so leave enough space to mechanical parts like the motors) Other needed Parts: 10mm balsawood, zip ties, battery strap, saw (for the Balsawood) The 3D-printed Parts are made of PC-Filament, which is always a good choice for Quadrocopter parts, cause of its durability. Resume: It was a little bit difficult to solder the motor signal wires to this flight controller, next time I will use a FC that matches the ESC to avoid such tiny soldering (the HGLRC 20x20mm Micro F4 Flight Controller has a connection for the “28A 2-4S Blheli_S BB2 4 in 1 ESC”). However, the Work was worth it, the first flight was amazing, and the complete Quadcopter with Battery weights less than 200 grams. The recorded Video is very smooth and the flight performances are great. I already have ordered other props, the current props are very aggressive, so I ordered the following (Gemfan 3035 3X3.5 BN 3-blade Propeller PC 1.5mm) to enlarge the flight time.
