UnStruder - Filament Pelletizer

UnStruder - Filament Pelletizer

Description

It might seem counterintuitive, but sometimes you need to convert filament into pellets. This is an easy way to recycle old filament, make master batches or create custom / experimental materials. This is a work in progress... the unused 5mm insets are meant for heat-set inserts with the potential for a pellet collector and/or drill mount to be added. The UnStruder uses the 3D printed parts from a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.lulzbot.com/store/tool-heads/lulzbot-taz-single-extruder-tool-head-v2">LulzBot TAZ Single Extruder V2</a> to feed filament. You can print the parts from the <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/">LulzBot Source</a> or convert an unused tool head. A 5/16" drill bit is used to chop the filament. The UnStruder should be compatible with any Greg/Wade style extruder, but has not been tested. <b>UnStruder Parts:</b> 1x: 3D Printed UnStruder Body 1x: 5/16" Drill Bit 2x: 608zz Bearings <b>LulzBot TAZ Single Extruder V2 Parts: </b> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/extruder_body_3mmhex_Mini/">extruder_body_3mm5ex_v1.3.2.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/extruder_idler_block/">extruder_idler_block_v1.4c.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/extruder_latch/">extruder_latch-2.0.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/extruder_mount_hex/">extruder_mount_hex_v1.0.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/extruder_washer/">jonaskuehling_gregs-wade-ao-v3-washer-x7.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/herringbone_large_gear/">lrg_herringbone_gear_v1.3.stl</a> 1x: 3D Printed <a target="_blank" href="https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/Juniperbush/production_parts/printed_parts/herringbone_small_gear/">herringbone_small_gear-1.1-highres.stl</a> 1x: NEMA 17 Stepper Motor 1x: Hobbed Bolt M8x50 26mm offset 2x: Spring, Extruder, 6mm OD, 0.8mm WD, 9.7mm FL 1x: 8mm smooth rod x 18-19mm, Stainless Steel 2x: M4 x 55 Bolt, SHCS Black-Oxide 2x: M4 Nut,Zinc-Plated Steel 2x: M4 Washer <b>Electronics: </b> I'm driving the stepper motor with a Pololu DRV8825 connected to an Arduino Uno, but use whatever you have lying around.
