AM8 340 - 364 MM rail extension t-slot
Description
If you are like me, you bought everything you needed for the AM8 before discovering that it is about 24 MM short in the Y axis. The extrusions should be 364 MM vs 340 MM. Found this out courtesy of Ranitas post: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2462104 I didn't want to buy new extrusions, and I also didn't want a shorter Y axis, so I thought maybe I could design a solution. The 24 MM t-slot extensions can be installed in either the front or the back of the AM8. This works with the existing corner brackets used in the AM8. You will want to use an M5x.8 thread tap to tap all four holes in the 313 MM extrusion. You will need 12 M5 x 10 mm button head screws, and 8 t-slot square nuts. The bracket will overlap the existing the 340 MM rail, the 24 MM extension, and the 313 MM front/back rail. 4 screws will thread into the previously tapped holes, the rest will use t-slot square nuts. I did have to do a little bit of sanding in the corner of the bracket to get it to slide in comfortably. To remove any extra stress on the 3D printed extension, I added two extra rubber feet on the 340 MM rail. Lastly, you will need to 3D Print the front y rod holders created by Ranita: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2462104 and follow the steps to move the 440 vertical rails forward.
