R2D2 Echo Dot Stand (2nd Gen & 3rd Gen)
Description
I didn´t like the only Echo Dot r2d2 Version here on thingiverse as it looks headless. On the other hand I love the Echo Version with the light ring. So I decided to merge a new one from different sources to fit the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Gen. I only made corrections in size, cut the upper part of r2d2-main body and added some pins. Thanks to the designers of this great and detailed R2D2 (TheSpaceCowboy), the idea and head of the Echo R2 version (Jay_Charles) and chunkysteveo´s wall mount. You need every part once, except the pins (2x). I also added a version for less support with split main body (1+2), but I printed the whole part as one, which came out good as well. Printed this in flat position on my ender 3 and 2. With additional part cooling fan it should also be competely printable on the ender 2 (legs in 45° position or just use a brim)! Update: After turning the legs too often the pins got a bit loose, so maybe you should size them up a little bit (105%) Printing them in lying position and 100% infill makes them very strong. Some words to audio quality: the echo dot does not offer best audio quality. but in my opinion with its now elevated position and the holes below it not only sounds slightly better but also makes Alexa understand you better, maybe because the microphone on top is kind of separated from the speakers at the bottom. EDIT: SIgnum19 designed an extra version of the vent and the arm. I added those to the files. EDIT: To Fit Echo Gen 3 relmicro figured out that scaling to 121% works fine. Also using paperclips for fixating the legs is a great idea! Thanks for that info. Check his make! Happy printing and show me your results!
