Ender 3 MKS Gen L V1.0 Control Box Upper Remix
Description
Update 4/22/2019: V2 A shortlist of the changes I remixed into this Thing + V2 changes. -Mounting holes are oversized for insertion of brass inlets (~4.5mm for "melt" insertion) -Thicker tab for mounting to the end of the frame extrusion -Round vent holes (Inspired by VanKurt, link below) -Removal of front fan guards to minimize noise and allow for custom fan grills -Mounting holes or fan -Removal of stops in fan channel for easier fitting (I am relying on the fan screw mounts) -Thicker wall around fan to help increase rigidity NOTE: You may have to drill a new hole in the bottom of the print to install the small screw to the frame. It was brought to my attention that this position may have been changed by Creality, so just be aware. :) Hello All! After recently watching TeachingTech's video and getting myself a MKS Gen L v1.0 control board for my Ender 3 original, I was lead to his Thingiverse model for a new control box case. I really liked Michael's design, and with the remix provided by tomik986 for the 40x20x20mm fan adaptation I found it nearly perfect. I decided to add a little of my own flavor with more ventilation on the horizontal wall opposite the fan mount (near the USB port) with a hexagonal hole pattern. I also added mounting screw holes spaced for the 40mm fan to the front of the case for easy attachment of various fan shrouds (extra metal ones I had laying around in my case) that may help with the noise issue others had mentioned. The front bracket that attached the case to the end of the Ender 3 extrusion also came out a little thin on my first print so I beefed that section up just a little for strength. And thanks again to Michael from TeachingTech for inspiration, as I have started using threaded brass inlets so all of the mounting holes have been resized. I have 5mm OD brass threaded inlets on hand, and the mounting holes now have a 4mm bore. This should allow for either hot pressing them in via soldering iron, or drilling out based on your needs (though nothing was wrong with the original fully printed mount holes). I hope my changes may be useful to whomever is interested, and please let me know if there is anything that doesn't function well enough! :) Original by TeachingTech: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3311643 40x20x20mm Remix Original by tomik986: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3318628 Good Alternative Design and inspiration for using round hole design by VanKurt: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3542099
