OCD Filament Spool Roller - "The Abacus"

OCD Filament Spool Roller - "The Abacus"

Description

4-15-19 Update - Added a ledge for the outer race of the bearing to sit on. This is on each of the rollers. This will alleviate having to guess on the center of the bearing in the rollers. Hello, Having moved to a reverse-Bowden setup for my custom Prusa Mk2, I decided I wanted a more artistic, low profile, and fancy looking filament spool holder for my bench. I noticed that Skate Bearings (608ZZ) fit perfectly over an 8mm Linear Rod. I had many laying around so this was a no brainer. I designed this to be adjustable to what ever width you want. You can choose to cut your linear rods as wide as short as needed. The bearings slide to any position that is needed. The bearing wheel covers are press fit and require no glue. Together the two halves make a "more" flat channel than most that are semi-circular. This will help the spool edges sit more flat. You will need to: Print both left and right bridges. Print 4 each of the left and right rollers. Cut your own lengths of 8mm Linear Rods (for width). 608 (ZZ) x 4 bearings for the rollers. Or more if you want more. I had to lightly sand the rods with an orbital sander to eliminate the tightness of the bearings. After doing this the bearings slide back and forth without force. Print the bridges with supports for obvious reasons. The rollers can be flat as pictured. This is an original design. Enjoy! Jon
