Control box for CNC switches and voltage/current meter

Control box for CNC switches and voltage/current meter

Description

I decided to design a control box to mount the main power switch for my CNC together with a small automotive voltage and current meter. I also wanted to add an automotive 24V to 12V regulator inside it so I can use one power source to do that and supply my 5W LASER module, a PC fan and some lights, as well as switching the power to my spindle motor. So I included switch cutouts for those too. The design here is what I came up with. The main box body is printed on its side to reduce support material and improve print quality on a cheap 3D printer. The hole in the base is filled using two small screws to hold the small plate part. And the end bumpers add a bit of bling while raising the box off the work surface. It can be finished however you fancy, but I decided to paint it and add water-slide transfers before clear coating. I also decided to LASER cut some 1.5mm Mahogany sheet inserts for the bumpers, to make the ends look nicer. The files for the transfers and inserts are included here, as is the OpenSCAD file in case you'd like to make any adjustments (or change the cutouts for a completely different use). Finally, if you're interested, you can read my blog post about this project at the link below. https://cncmakerzone.co.uk/3d-printing-a-cnc-control-box-for-switches-and-a-voltage-current-meter
