BLV MGN12 MOD Prusa MK52 Heatbed

Description

I replaced all parts of my Anet A8 while converting to [BLV's MGN12H mod](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2567757), except the heated bed. As I wanted to rebuild and sell the Anet A8, I decided to move to a 24V heated bed and, therefore, decided to go for the convenient Prusa MK52 magnetic heatbed solution. Unfortunately, this required a different Y carriage. Here, I share the sketch of the new, rock solid carriage that should fit directly on the MGN12H sleds and allows for the MK52 heatbed to be mounted and as a bonus, increases printing volume (X+30mm, Y+10mm, Z+20mm). Prepare the file for CNC milling or use the .dxf for lasercutting and ask someone with a machine to produce it from ~3mm thick Aluminium or order from aliexpress (see below). Front right corner has 2 additional mounting holes intended for a camera holder. The Belt connector holes are not perfectly centered but a bit to the right, since I replaced the original Anet A8 Y motor with a bigger/longer one. This allows longer motors to fit while allowing the belt to be attached in a straight line. To mount the new heat bed carriage, a new Y-axis motor holder (sitting a bit lower) and a new Y-axis tensioner (also sitting a bit lower) and a new belt locker have to be printed (modified files from BLV attached, ready to print in PETG). Update: 25. April 19: I found an [Aliexpress store](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs-Aluminum-BLV-MGN12-MOD-Prusa-MK52-Heatbed-Ycarriage-For-Prusa-I3-Anet-A8-A6-3D/33009603760.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3bf94c4dJmoOFH) that can produce it at a really good price. I ordered and will test it in a few weeks. Update: 8. May 19: Heat bed support plate arrived, holes fit perfectly. In process of assembling everything. Update: 13. May 19: Heat plate mounted. One issue that occured was that my Z-motor spyder couplers when mounted take up a bit more z space than regular flex couplers. Without changes, the nozzle was unable to reach the bed. I therefore had to mount the Z motors a bit lower. A quick fix was to add some spacers (10mm height) between the z motors and the motor mount. Files are also included. Please measure before disassembling if you need these "motor spacers". If you can move your Z height approx. -20 mm from your current 0 position, you won't need them. Update June 2019: Instead of the modified BLV Y Motor mount and tensioner, I decided to use the Idler and Motor mount from Prusa Bear upgrade. Works like a charm. I changed orientation of the tensioner system attached to the bed carriage to use less spacer so the full bed can be used (in y direction). Small drawback: the center screw to fix the bed is unaccessible this way, but the bed is flat and stiff enough anyway so it's not needed. This concludes this build, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to transfer the Anet A8 heatbed back into the Anet frame and upgrade to a larger, more elegant heat bed. All STLs are available here. With 24V, everything works like a charm, the bed is rock solid and heats up to 80°C in ~3-4 minutes. Instead, I'd suggest to get the [original from Prusa](https://shop.prusa3d.com/de/mk3mk3s/214-federstahldruckplatte-pulverbeschichtet.html), which is available now for just ~10$ more. Works really well for PLA and PETG for me. You'll need longer m3 screws ([~25-30mm](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33059655935.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.69524c4dL04gZ4)) to fix the bed to the support plate.
