# Dry Box Filament Dispenser This filament dispenser holds the spool in a dry box, serving as a stackable storage as well. The included designs of the spool hub are for filament spools having a shaft opening dia from 54 to 59 mm. Two separate designs are provided covering the 54-56 mm and 57-59 mm ranges. They were successfully tested with the following filament spools: - Airwolf 3D 1.75mm x 1kg filament spool (imported by Wirtheim) with 54mm dia shaft opening. - Unknown 1.75mm x 1kg filament spool with 58mm dia shaft opening. ## Credits The concept and parts design were inspired by several dispensers available on Thingiverse, such as the following designs: 1. [Filament Storage Solution (IKEA SAMLA) by wstein][1] 2. [Customizable Spool Hub Adapter by wstein][2] 3. [IKEA SAMLA dry box filament storage: bolt + nut + gasket by mordr3d][3] The 'stared' pocket for the bearing in the Spool Hub is an idea by [Itai][4]. It is intended to enforce pockets and minimize the typical shrinking effect of round pockets having a vertical main axis. In this case, a total of 16 spokes were used, each with 0.2 mm opening width and penetrating 3 mm into the walls of the pocket. ## Materials Needed The following lists are for one box hosting two spools of 200 mm (dia.) x 66 mm (width). Obviously, the number of spool hubs and their bearings, and the number and size of the printed spacers need to be adjusted for spools having different width, or when placing only one spool in the box. For instance, when hosting only one spool of 200 mm (dia.) x 63 mm (width) use only 2x Spool Hubs with 2x Bearings, and add 1x Shaft Spacer of 78mm to the list of printed parts.
