Apollo Bust - laser cut sculpture
Description
I designed this using Rhino3D, Slicer for Fusion360, Adobe Illustrator and a PLS6.150D from Universal Laser Systems. http://universallasersystems.com Sculpture is 14" high and 16" wide. Created using 4mm thick cardboard. This model used ~14 sheets of 28" x 17". I highly recommend downloading Slicer (free). It generates the laser files from 3D models. You can adjust to your material dimensions, thickness, and desired size of your finished model. Don't ROTATE the shapes in the eps files. You can nest shapes tighter if you like but rotating slices threw off the alignment of the cardboard in certain spots. If untouched, the cardboard corrugations align nicely. Assembly was tedious but straight-forward once I understood the alignment guides generated by Slicer.
