Adaptive Switch
Description
The switch can be used with switch activated toys, environmental controls, and speech generating devices that require 3.5mm plug. The DIY switch is simple and inexpensive using the following parts: 1) NERF Vortex disc for the top. These discs are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased online or at many brick and mortar stores in the toy section. The discs not only provide a nice appearance, but feel good since they are made out of foam. If you have kids who play with NERF you may even find some of these by simply looking under the sofa :) 2) Micro Momentary Tactile Push Button Switch (12mm x 12mm x 7.3mm) with Keycap. These allow top of the switch to snap onto the base. 3) 3.5mm 1/8" Male Mini "Mono" Plug to Plug (cut in half) Directions: 1) Print up the 2 parts. 2) Glue the small round insert into the bottom of the disc. 3) Cut/Strip wires on the cable, insert into hole on switch base 4) Solder switch button 5) Glue switch button into place, also use glue on wire near hole to help lock in place 6) Snap the disc top onto the base (optional, use small amount of glue before snapping together) * You can use either Super Glue (CA) or low temp Hot Glue Recommend sticking with the original NERF brand of discs. Not sure if the generic versions are exactly the same size. I specifically designed and tested with NERF disc which allows activating the switch from anywhere it's touched. Base plate = 45 mm Nerf Disc = 40 mm
