Triple RJ45 Keystone Coupler Wall or Table/Desk Mount

Triple RJ45 Keystone Coupler Wall or Table/Desk Mount

Description

Hello again, Internets! I needed to relocate 3 jacks from a PoE hub that was located underneath the desk to the top side of the desk. One might ask "Hey, magnum, why wouldn't you just move your PoE switch? Seems a lot smarter to me, you crazy whackadoo!". Great question! The PoE switch has a massive power brick and the input wire, which I don't want cluttering up my desk. I found user:joostn's "Dual RJ45 Keystone Wall Mount" (thingy 1078617) and built upon that. I modified the design to add a 3rd jack; I also modified his design a bit to leave room for you to actually remove a plug when you use it (the keystone mounts on this leave the "release mechanism" against the wall or desk when you mount it, making it very difficult to remove). I also made the box longer so it could accommodate keystone "Couplers", so that I didn't need to cut a perfectly good RJ45 cable and terminate it with a hard-wired keystone. This design works well - I will say, though, that the wireframe is a bit butchered. I'm using TinkerCad, so modifying this required a lot of trickery. I should really learn a better tool, but TinkerCad makes things very easy. Anyways, hope this helps someone. If not, thanks for looking anyhow! Printed on a Taz 6 with a 1.75mm filament (YES - It's true!) using IT Works 3D Titan Aero Pro head (https://itworks3d.com/)
