Barbecue skewer bridge gluing brackets

Barbecue skewer bridge gluing brackets

Description

If you download and print this thing, please consider giving me a tip. I am a college student and I do 3D printing and design work to support myself. Every little bit makes a huge impact. Use these brackets to temporarily hold your barbecue skewer bridge together while the glue dries. Save time, save a lot of headache. The skewers snap into the brackets so you can build your bridge quickly and not worry about things moving while the glue dries. The lengths of the sticks I used are as follows: 110 mm , 199 mm , 223 mm. The number of sticks you need will depend on how long you want your bridge to be. Keep in mind that you can scale down (or up) the bridge by multiplying each of the three basic lengths by the same multiplier (e.g. 1.5, 3, 0.8). Remember similar triangles from geometry? That's what's going on here. You can also lengthen or shorten the bridge by using more or less segments to the truss. I used ten segments for a length of 1100 mm. Also, you should probably also add diagonal supports in between the two sides of the truss, both on top and bottom and in the middle, to make the bridge fully rigid. My bridge was able to hold 11.4 kg suspended from the center strut before failing. Bragging rights go to anyone who can beat that, so be sure to leave a comment on here if you do and strut your stuff (all puns intended).
