Rastar LandRover Defender - Servo Steering
Description
This kit of bits replaces the stock steering gearbox and clutch on the Rastar LandRover Defender. It mounts using 2 of the self tappers from the model and requires a couple of other minor bits to get it working. Slec ball ends: SL072-S (http://www.slecuk.com/balsa-wood/Minature-clipable-ball-link-6-per-Pkt-SL072_S.html) M3x6 screw 2x M3x8 screws 15mm M2 threaded rod Alternative Tamiya parts: 4mm cups 0445563 4mm balls 50590 For the most part it's a simple direct fit, there's a small amount of plastic that needs removing from the chassis, it's pretty obvious what's in the way once you fit the adaptor to the sliding linkage. The distance between the centres of the ball cups should be 20mm. It's also not a bad idea to print the adaptor with 100% infill. 35% is more than enough for the other bits. Oh and lastly the main mount is the right way up for fitting to the chassis in the STL file, but it's a lot easier to print if you flip it upside down! Until I can take some photos the best way to see how it all fits is to have a look at the linked video. The first few minutes cover the servo mount. https://youtu.be/nsB0l9NMyWE (Video goes live 5th May 13:30 BST if you're wandering why it's not working…)
