Mavic Air iPhone X/XS/XS-Max holder
Description
Update Nov-29-2019: Added cradle for case-less iPhone XS & XS Max Updated cradle for iPhone XS Max in Otterbox Defender I finally managed to parameterize the Fusion file for the cradle, so I can, theoretically customize it for any phone+case width/height necessary. The case-less cradle dimensions are based on the googled dimensions of 70.9 (XS) & 77.4mm (XS Max) with and 7.7mm height. The cradle height dimension is slightly larger due to a minimum size limitation due to the design (fillets in cradle bottom corners). It should still work, but I have not printed it or verified the fit. ----- An iPhone in an Otterbox Defender case will not fit into the Mavic Air remote controller, since the case is too thick (and you wouldn't be able to plug in the lightning connector. I got tired of taking the iPhone out of its case to fly, so I made a holder for it. The other problem with an iPhone X in the controller (out of it's case) is that because the ends (top/bottom) of the phone get recessed into the controller, it can be difficult to "swipe up" from the bottom, and the camera is obscured, preventing face ID from working without pulling the top out of the controller. Using this holder solves both problems. Additionally, since I'm using a "normal" lightning cord (Anker 1-foot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0177LAN4M/ref=cm_sw_su_dp) plugged into the USB A connector on the bottom of the controller, it allows charging the controller without unplugging the phone (using the micro USB on the side as normal). The design easily snaps apart into two pieces -- a flat frame and the phone cradle. The cradle is two parts designed in two pieces allowing you to position the phone at the angle of your choosing. I leave them snapped together, and just unsnap that from the frame. The "extra large foot" on the snap-in piece is intended to face forward, and rests on the lip of the controller, making it more stable. UPDATE: 8/25 Added cradle holder for iPhone XS Max (sorry, this was not designed in OpenScad, so I can't make it customizable, so you can modify it for any phone and case you have)
