Separating Busk

Separating Busk

Description

This project is a low cost replacement for making corsets in a Theatrical Costume Shop which was presented at the 2019 SETC conference. Considerable research and testing has been completed for load and use. Currently, test busks have been used for 60 hours of stress testing and have been sew into constructed corsets and have withstood normal wear and tear. Washing has been done by hand but testing on machine washing is ongoing. The current stl. is version five with reinforcements on the tabs and posts. This item is an ongoing research project between faculty at two universities (Rob Berls and Casey Watkins from UNC Asheville and Kristin Grieneisen from Appalachian State University) and improvements will be uploaded as innovations are created. A sample of boning has been included with this project.
