Gundog Heeling Collar/Lead
Description
A heeling lead is a short slip lead you can hang on to to keep the dog steady and close, You simply release it when the dog is sent without the dog trailing a long cord or lead behind it. A heeling lead costs £8.50 off most local stores and as all intrepid designers we strive to not spend money when we can avoid it. I bought 5 meters of 4mm flexible nylon climbing rope for £4.80 from my local outdoor shop and knocked up these simple components in Fusion360. The Pulley is the eye guard to stop the rope wearing out over time. The Stopper is used to keep it in place around the dogs neck. The Toggle is the bit on the end that makes it easier to grasp. Each lead needs about 70cm, of rope, adjusted to your preference. Print flat with no support. Use PLA/PET/ABS for the Pulley, and TPU for the other two bits. The rope needs to be melted to a thinner radius for about 10mm at the threading end to make the stopper fit, it needs to be tight on the rope. Happy training.
