Power Supply Cover Taz4
Description
This Thing is a power supply cover. The power supply is 24v-480w and replaces the broken PS for a Taz4 printer. I guess the OEM power supplies for the Taz4 are known to be weak and under powered. They also don't have a switch. I went with the cheap Letour S-480-24 instead of the Mean Well because I am ...well....Cheap. There are a couple of versions. I started out planning 4 holes to mount the cover so it would be mounted securely. There are only 3 holes in the case. I was going to add a hole to the PS case for the extra screw. Turns out the 3 screws worked fine. I decided not to drill the extra hole in the case because I would have to open it up to get the metal chips out. Now it looks like a screw is missing. Not worth reprinting the cover. So there are 3 and 4 hole versions with and without countersinks if you don't want to use flat head screws. I just ran a 10-32 tap through the existing holes in the case to provide threads for the mounting screws. I desoldered the the OEM printer cable from the old PS and reused it on the new one. There are zip ties on the cables inside the cover so the cables pull on the cover not the connectors. The ABS I used for printing was showing some sepperations on the layer lines in a few spots. I used acetone vapor post printing just to help with the layer bonding. I didn't want the part to split on the layer lines during use. I used 3 perimeter wall lines and 20% infill and the part seems pretty stout. The link says 20a-500w but I got a 480w (what I was expecting). It can't be 20a and 500w.
