Tiny Robot

Tiny Robot

Description

Inspired by other projects such as the Maker Faire Robot (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40212), the Ultimaker Mascot and others, I wanted to make a quick, simple robot print for a FIRST Robotics team table handout (1729 - Team Inconceivable!). After a number of iterations with bigger arms, smaller arms, arms rotated to be ear antennas instead of arms, numbers in the top, flat on top, experimenting with overhangs and bridging and so on, I settled on this one to share since it balances well and can be used for ad-hoc robot stacking games (build the tallest robot stack, make a wall of robots to knock down with bottlecaps, whatever) Print time on any of my printers is a little under 20 minutes, and the best combination of weight/strength/speed that I've found seems to be 2 shells, .2mm layers, 20-30% infill, and 2 top and bottom layers. At 25% infill that ends up being right around 1m of filament, so great for using up those short scraps quickly. For numbers/letters I put it in the top and recessed it .6mm. Using lettering does mean your first layer adhesion has to be pretty good to ensure clean letters, but it's quick and easy to add in Tinkercad or any other program.
