Description

This is a remix of the popular Kwawu Arm by Jacquin Buchanan that is compatible with the NIOP modular arm catalog, and is used to fit transhumeral (above-elbow) amputees and people with limb difference who don't have an elbow. This module contains the hand and forearm parts which connect directly to the NIOP Shelbow module https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3639811, and Helix Cuff https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3639770 (as shown). You will need the Brace Plate https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3712119 to secure the drive-line. The TPU hinges have been improved to not require as much pull strength to close the hand, and the NIOP Wrist Pin requires very little clean up and snaps into place. Once the Wrist Retention Ring and Stopper are added to the wrist connection, it is extremely strong and limits the range of rotation to that of a natural wrist. The completed arm (Kwawu/Shelbow/Helix Cuff at 100% size) weighs 1lb 9oz [737g], including hardware. ***It is strongly recommended that you see a professional prosthetist for guidance before using this device. Temporary Sizing Method - The 100% arm size is based on a forearm length of 220mm. This is the distance from the crease of the elbow to the crease of the wrist. To figure your print scale, divide your forearm length (in mm) by 220. The resulting number is your scale factor to use in your slicer. For bilateral recipients, this device was made for someone 5'-6" tall. Since the Helix Cuff is adjustable, the device can be sized by making the forearm length look proportional to the recipient. These stl's are made for a Left arm device. Most parts (excluding the Switches and Pins) should be mirrored for Right arm devices.
