Freewing 90mm outrunner fan center burner mount
Description
This part is used to attach an LED bulb to the aft end of a Freewing 90mm outrunner EDF unit that comes on the Freewing 6 cell F-4 Phantom. All the instructoins for making it are on RCGroups in "Making an inexpensive EDF centerburner" forum. You need to remove the rear motor steamlined cone and drill four cooling holes to help hot air escape. This 3D printed piece is a tight fit in the exhaust hole of the fairing. I get it started and then use a block of wood and hammer to fully seat the piece. I also used a few drops of C/A glue to make sure it doesn't come loose. You also need to reduce the width of the LED bulb where the electrical pins are located to fit inside this mount. The bulb is available from Amazon. The forum has the instructions that show how to connect everything. Total cost for the parts is less than $20. I also lined the jet exhaust tubes with A/C metal duct tape with the peel off backing. I rolled the tape around a dowel to curve it and then carefully apply it. I used a broom handle with a sock wrapped around it to smooth the tape and make sure that it was securely stuck in place. This also fits the 90mm 6 cell Freewing F-18 which I believe is the same fan.
