E3D Hobb Goblin (MK8) Flexible Filament Extruder and Filament Sensor Bracket for Creality CR-10, Ender 3
Description
Was having under extrusion issues with some plastics after upgrading to the Capricorn PTFE tubing, so bought an E3D Hobb Goblin extruder gear: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071LDTFK4/. However, the gear has a smaller outer diameter, which prevented the stock/upgraded CR-10 extruder parts from correctly aligning. Rather than returning the gear and buying a lower-quality one or upgrading all the way to a Bond Tech extruder, I remixed the existing extruder mount and sensor bracket that I was using to fit the smaller diameter and apply extra pressure on the filament. I'm now able to print faster than stock without stripping the filament even on filaments that were having issues with the Capricorn tubing. I've also settled on 131 steps per mm. Edit: I was having trouble with high-retraction models with the extruder gear chewing a flat spot into the filament, so I've uploaded the extruder bracket with a 3mm offset for the spring instead of 4mm, because it may be putting to much pressure on the filament. This appears to be working well, but I'm continuing to test it. Edit 1/1/2021: I updated the filament sensor bracket with some reinforcing, because it kept breaking in the weakest part of the print. This update is a much cleaner mesh, but does use a little more filament. I recommend it over the original.
