Articulating Solder Fume Extractor (Tertial Lamp)
Description
This is a remix of the Solder Fume Extractor by "sneakypoo". It uses a $10 "Tertial" articulating lamp from Ikea and allows you to mount everything for your fume extractor in a clean setup that is easy to move around. All in I spent $40.97. Aside from removing the lamp, the only modification I had to do to the lamp arm was flatten the bracket out with a pair of pliers. Assembly took less than ten minutes after the prints were completed. I chose a 120VAC fan so I could keep the lamp arm cord with switch in place. You could just as easily use a high CFM 12VDC fan with a power supply. The only additional hardware I had to buy were 2x #6 x 3/4" machine screws to connect the articulating adapter to the lamp adapter. It looks like these budget articulating lamps mostly use the same design, I would assume you can use many different brands. The particular lamp I used was only $10 in store at my local Ikea. At first I was concerned about weight as the new setup was nearly 400g heavier than the lamp with bulb but it has proven to stay exactly where you put it without sagging. This is a very easy print and thanks to the work that sneakypoo did the whole setup makes for a great addition to my work area.
