Oculus Rift S – Pliable Headphone Mount – Koss PortaPro
Description
This is a flexible headphone mount for the Rift S designed for the Koss PortaPro headset drivers. The Koss PortaPros were the drivers that were assumed to be used for the original Rift headset. I loved the convenience and the sound quality they provided. There are other 3d printable designs to mount the Koss PortaPros on the Rift S with more configuration adjustments. My aim with this design was to provide a single-piece pliable design with cable routing features. A few notes on the design and fitting. There is a channel to route the cable underneath the mount. When mounting, first route the cable, then secure the bottom, then snap over the top mounting. When test-fitting, use some tape on the headset to protect the plastic. PLA is harder than the halo plastic so it will scratch if you are not careful. I added a couple of set screws to hold in place the drivers. Using these is totally optional. But 3d-printing being what it is, it might be useful for some folks. They accommodate m1.6 screws. (Through the design process, the driver plastic of my headset did ware down...) The design includes a brim, remove the brim before mounting. Be sure to add some slack to the headset cable to make sure the headset can slide in/out. Don't be afraid to heat up the part with a hair dryer and mold it to the shape you need. After the Rift S launch knew I wanted to make a design to accommodate these headsets and I would appreciate any feedback on the design!
