Mod for Creality Ender 5 - Fine adjustment of the Z axis endstop
Description
It is a Z-axis adjustment system in the Creality Ender 5 printer, it is a good concept, but it has the failure that when loosening the captive nut, it is very easy to turn the screw that touches the endstop, losing the adjustment. With this mod, a fine and precise adjustment is achieved, since only one large wheel has to be moved and the possibility of vibrations and misalignments is eliminated when using a self-locking nut. Material's list: - 1 screw M3 x 30 - 1 nut M3 - 1 self-locking M3 nut. Mounting: - Using a soldering iron, insert the M3 nut into the wheel. Then insert the screw on the opposite side, screwing almost to the end and stick the screw head to the wheel with epoxy, to prevent it from turning. When the epoxy has been applied to the head of the screw, it is finished tightening it so that the epoxy enters well between the screw and the wheel (see the final result in the photo). - Insert the self-locking M3 nut in the body, taking care not to deform it, as the part enters the platform just in case and if there is any deformation, it may not fit correctly. - When the epoxy has hardened completely, you can already unscrew the original adjustment system and fit the new adjustment piece, matching the hole with the one on the platform. Next, from below. the screw is inserted with the wheel and turned until it is at the necessary height so that the bed is level. The optimum distance between the bed and the nozzle is 0.09mm, which is usually the thickness of a DIN A4 80gr sheet. To make a fine adjustment later, you only have to turn the wheel slightly in one direction or another, until you get the correct distance between the bed and the nozzle.
