Mosquito Magnet octenol tube lid
Description
This is a replacement lid for the octenol tube on a Mosquito Magnet. I have a Mosquito Magnet Patriot, but I suspect it will fit other variants as well, like the Defender. One clip on the lid immediately broke when the device was new. The local distributor sent me a replacement, which also broke immediately in the same way. The design of the lid attachment is not good. This replacement lid tries to improve on the original design in the following ways: * The bending part of this clip is rectangular instead of curved. Having it curved it requires more force to bend but does not improve on the strength of it. * The bending part is longer in this clip. This is done by having a 90 degree angle at the bottom and attaching it to the center. This makes the flex being distributed over a longer length. * The lug that clips into the the tube is rounder which makes it more easy to remove when you twist it counter clockwise. * The lug is slanted so that it is easier to press into the tube Even with these improvements the clips may still break if you are not careful. Note that there are hardly noticeable slots in the tube that the lugs go into when you press the lid in. Once fully pressed in twist the lid clockwise. To remove it, twist counter clockwise so that the lugs come out of the holes in the tube and pull it out. The best solution would however to completely redesign the tube and the lid so that it attaches with threads instead of the clips. Fusion 360 file is included.
