Echo Dot with mounting hole
Description
This is a holder for a v2 Amazon Echo. The original design (with many thanks to TinkeringT) is slightly modified to accept a threaded camera mount so it can be mounted to anything that accepts a threaded camera mount. You'll need to provide a washer and nut for the other side. The external ring fits around the base of the Echo holder. Since the speaker is on the bottom, the ring is used to reflect the sound back to the user. It will press fit around the base and can be glued in place if desired. (TinkerCAD link: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/56OjreoFcV8) I crafted this to be paired with a gooseneck clamp which is clipped to a wheelchair. (Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWNYGUS) The Echo can be powered by a simple USB battery pack. The Echo provides voice access to home automation features (lights, TV control, switches, etc) that may otherwise be difficult to control. I created this for my father who has ALS. He uses it to control things in his home, listen to audio books, radio and music as well as make & accept phone calls and dictate voice and text messages. Any number in your phone can be called or texted. We affectionately call it the ''Portalexa".
