Lipo mountable smoke stopper and switch

Lipo mountable smoke stopper and switch

Description

This is my version of the simple smoke stopper. It has a 12V 21W light bulb in series with the switch to limit the current at the output as well as provide a visual indication that high current is being pulled. The switch removes the need to connect and disconnect the XT60 from the load every time you need to power cycle. This reduces the wear on the XT60 connectors. I used a SPST rocker switch, XT60E-M connector, ba15 12V 21W light bulb, XT60 plug with leads, 16AWG wire. The holes for the wires fit up to 12AWG. I used a lead from a dead battery with 12AWG for the robustness and the thick insulation of the wires. I used 16AWG for the internal connections, but you can use smaller gauge, depending on the bulb you use and the battery you connect. CAUTION - If soldered incorrectly or insulated insufficiently, you might short your battery, potentially causing a fire! double check, test with current limiting power supply (or another smoke stopper) and never leave unattended while connected to battery. I may not be held accountable for any damage caused to property, yourself or others. Be safe and use at your own discretion.
