Foot for 2020 CNC frame
Description
I've been playing with flexible filament (TPU) designs to try to mechanically isolate my CNC machine from the hard surfaces it sits on, so as to help reduce vibration. This model is where I've got to so far, and works quite well. Flexible filament, such as TPU which I used, is quite soft so seems a perfect choice for making dampers. But in fact it's difficult to stop it being fairly rigid for small models like this. So I'll be spending more time working on vibration reducing designs in future, to get better dampening performance. However, I thought this version could be useful so here it is. It can be printed with rigid plastic (e.g. ABS, PETG, PLA) as a simple frame foot but obviously won't help reduce vibrations if you do. Also, I've included the OpenSCAD file in case you'd like to tweak the design. For flexible TPU filament I used 10% infill density. That made it fairly squishy so seems a good value, but can be tweaked to alter the rigidity a little.
