Drylin Bearing Mod
Description
Hi everyone! I decided to switch from my stock linear bearings to some Drylin Bearings. I tried a number of metal sheaths to reach the desired tolerance but nothing in my area was really sufficient. So I found Ruthex's design and after a few prints at 100% size, 99.5% size and 99% size I found that my printer would give me a wonderful tolerance of the drylin bearings if I printed at 99% of Ruthex's design using PLA and then at 100% size using High temp PETG. Unfortunately, the original design was too thin and would crack immediately when pressing into the PETG. This prompted me to design a slightly thicker bearing sheath. my redesign lasted upwards of 2 days till the PETG cracked so I decided to use the PLA and see how it faired. FOR NOW: the PLA is working wonderfully. When printing at 99% of the actual size the print can be too tight, I used a 1/4" socket and a vice to press the bearings back out and then a 1/2" chisel to ream the inside of the bearing sheath until the desired fit is achieved. If you have any questions please ask! And here is Ruthex's original design https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3426297 Thanks
