Collapsible Lightsaber Blade Plug

Collapsible Lightsaber Blade Plug

Description

Some ideas are born fit for the dustbin of history. This is one of them. I saw the collapsible, print in place swords and lightsabers that 3DPRINTINGWORD is making. Being an avid sabersmith myself, I thought "hey, you could totally make a telescoping lightsaber blade plug from that" So I did just that. I didn't reuse the original files, so this isn't a remix, but it is heavily influenced by 3DPRINTINGWORLD's original models. It should print in place, Honestly, it's a bit of a polished turd. You can't really duel with it, and it doesn't really block out the light from a high power LED when it's retracted, so it sucks at both its primary fuctions. But hey, I grew up with Phantom Menace era telescoping lightsaber toys, so it kinda hits that nostalgia factor for me. Anyway. If you're going to go for it, I recommend either white or transparent PLA. The model should print all five tubes in place. I designed this to fit into any 1" blade prop saber emitter. There's only so much you can do with 2"/5cm of length, so I did not see the point of making one for 7/8" blades. Line up the ridge on the outermost layer with your blade retention screw, tighten it a little, and then flick your wrist. Tadah, the blade extends about 20cm/8".
