M3D Crane Quad Spool cassette holder with desiccant pocket

M3D Crane Quad Spool cassette holder with desiccant pocket

Description

The M3D Crane Quad printer is an amazing feat, finally bringing full color 3d printing to the masses with a high quality and cost effective printer geared towards the consumer. I am glad to have this printer, however one thing missing was an effective spool holder. I found the included design to be lacking and although would do as a start, i had to have better. You'll need: 1 M4 x 20 + hex nut 16 M3 x 20 + hex nut 8 M3 x 10 + hex nut 8 Bearings This design is meant as a way of having the spools of filament always ready to print but being protected from moisture, having a desiccant pocket for a small baggie of desiccant, the filament is kept dry. The windows (each windows must be printed inside the rectangular holes on the cassettes) allow for easy visualization of filament quantity left over. (These must be printed @ .0100mm) . The pockets located on the inside of the pockets accommodate a typical bearing used for 3d projects (name escapes me). These should be epoxied into place. The mandrills are there to sandwich the spool and are inserted into the bearings. They need to have their bodies epoxied to their heads, the nub is there to help align them. I printed everything @ 100 microns as things fit better this way, This was printed on a dual extruder Flashforge Creator pro, with transparent filament for the window and a mono color for the rest. This is a work in progress and will be updated (I am already working on better positioning of the extraction point from the spool as well as height for the base).
