SUNHOKEY SIRIUS Scythe Filament Guide
Description
As I'm waiting for service for the original 2 LMNET printers (those don't belong to me, so I can't just change parts, and they unfortunately broke at the same time), I quickly bought a very entry level desktop printer on Taobao to fill in the gap. The model is called SUNHOKEY SIRIUS (*disclaimer: I'm not affiliated in any way with the brand*), the craftsmanship of the printer is actually quite good for something that doesn't use standard linear bearing, but uses aluminium profile and guide wheels. However, about 3/4 into a marathon printing of a very large model, the clipper of the extrusion unit snapped (picture is attached). The reason I speculate is that the extruder's clip wasn't designed for the filament to be pulled perpendicular to the clip (as in the design, the extruder's stepper face upwards) So I decided to do a filament guide that goes onto the extruder platform. I went through several iterations to get a set with acceptable performance. This is a very specific solution to a specific problem, so did not make it parametric, but I'm still uploading the source file, in case anyone still want to improve upon it. **Standard parts needed:** 1. m3 x 12 screw 2 pcs (As it thickens the Z worm drive, need to replace the screws) 1. m3 x 16 screw 2 pcs + 4 m3 nuts + possibly several pairs washers depending on the thickness of the nuts. 1. 3mm x 8mm x 4mm bearings 2 pcs **V2 was the usable version**,*at least for me* * *Pushing the bearings into the guiding wheels are a bit hard, but it also prevents from * falling out.* * *Breaking the topping into a different printing orientation piece is to reduce the chance of layer crack when pressed by the screws, if you want to merge them it's totally fine* * *Using ball bearings on the guide turns out to be an overkill, the friction wasn't that significant. It was the snapping of the clipping piece that made me wrongly asserted that the force was significant* * *The scythe shaped guide was also an over kill, but I kept it cuz it looked awsome* * *How it's put together should be very straight forward, but I'll try to put in some close shots* The printer model: https://sunhokey.cn/collections/3d-printer/products/new-coming-semi-assembled-all-metal-structure-desktop-3d-printer-sirius-1kg-pla-8gb-sd-card-as-gift
