Simple Paddle Shifter/Switch (12x12x7.3mm button)

Simple Paddle Shifter/Switch (12x12x7.3mm button)

Description

This is an extremely simple paddle button to mount on steering wheels as shifter paddles or anywhere else where a paddle button is needed. No screws, rods, magnets or microswitches. Very short travel. Just tap it. Not perfect but surprisingly good if you like short travel paddles. No parts required apart from one standard 12x12x7.3mm dip pushbutton. (a few cents on aliexpress, ebay...) You will find it if you search for "12mm 7.3 button". The ones with the yellow high stem. The mounting grid is 25x15mm for 3mm holes at the sides. Cables can be routed through a channel in the back or out of the bottom. Pins will stick out a bit so if you want to get wires through the back and mount it flush on a surface you should cut or bend the front pins and bent the rear pins back into the channel. This will also hold the switch in place tighter. The axle is just 1.75mm filament pushed into the side holes holding the paddle in place. If it does not fit perfectly bend the filament as straight as possible, maybe oil it or drill the holes a tiny bit wider if overhangs hang too low. But for me bending it straight is enough. Everything is loose enough to move freely but with tight tolerances to eliminate most slop. If something does bind you can grind and oil it a bit and it should be very smooth. There is a small and larger paddle included.
