Duck foot medical cast
Description
One of our ducks survived an animal attack, but was debilitated after its leg tendons were damaged. We tended to its wounds, and it healed up, but while the leg was able to be pushed back, the duck couldn't retract the leg forward again. This made it effectively lame and it would have died soon in that condition. I made this "boot" for its foot, and attached it with a rubber band to a fabric collar that I put around its neck to enable its leg to be retracted despite the physical damage. The duck quickly learned how to get around with this simple prosthetic, although it was certainly more "clunky" walking than it used to be.
