Clicky Articulating Joints for a Prosthetic Palm of the Hand

Clicky Articulating Joints for a Prosthetic Palm of the Hand

Description

An experiment with an idea for a foldable solar array led to the creation of a simple but almost lifelike mechanical toy constructed by linking together smaller appendages connected by articulating joints. This toy is currently unnamed but for now the project that birthed it was just called "joints" so for now that's what I'm calling them but I'm tempted to start calling them "clickies" because the audible, cricket-like clicking of the joints as you adjust them is just as satisfying as feeling their springy motion snap under your fingers. I'm just expecting someone to make an ASMR video of these immediately. It's that good ... I'm open to ideas about a name but "clicky joints" is pretty descriptive. After printing a few experimental links I decided the first thing I want to do with these is print a fully-articulating hand perhaps one that would be suitable as a prosthetic hand useful for something practical like grasping a utensil. My hope for now is to one day find the perfect mix of strength and agility that someone needing a prosthetic hand could use these for most day-to-day tasks if not in an aesthetically-pleasing way both to use and to look at.
