Castles of Burgundy Minimal Player Mat Overlay

Castles of Burgundy Minimal Player Mat Overlay

Description

I really loved sillyfrog's original Overlay, but saw that a good jolt to the table could still scramble things. So I went ahead and remixed it. This print went through several stages, but the idea was to use no more material than necessary, and to actually affix the overlay to the mat to make sure it'll really stay put. After messing around with several designs that clamped to the edge, I decided to go with the idea of simply punching two small holes in the mat and snapping the overlay to those to keep it stable. Yes, you read that right... this design requires you to use a holepunch on your player mats. Sacrilege, I know. With careful punching of the holes, you can get it so the overlay works on both sides of the mat just fine. I tested this print on all my mats and it works great for both sides of all of them. I feel the end result is totally worth the hole punching To use the overlay, just do the following: 1) Punch 2 holes as shown in the picture with the red circles. I found that the holes may not quite be centered above and below those hexes. Depends on the exact printing of that mat. 2) Put the pins on the back side of the mat. Line them up with the holes and snap them to the overlay. 3) ... 4) Profit I did find the fit can be very snug, so you may need to do a very small amount of sanding on the holes for the overlay. Be sure to let the print cool completely or the hex grid will warp.
