Slide Holder for Tamron 90mm Macro
Description
This is a holder for paper, plastic, or metal mounted 35mm slides that attaches to the newest version of the Tamron 90mm macro lens. There are three main parts, the ring that mounts to the Tamron lens via the hood mount, the extension tube that gets you to the correct minimum focusing distance, and the slide holder. There is also a diffusion panel to help even out the light if you are using a smaller or more specular light source. I designed this to be modular so that there can be different hood mounts and extension tubes for different macro lenses while using the same slide holders. That said, I don't have any other macro lenses so I'm unable to design parts for those at the moment. If you would like to send me other brands lenses I'd be happy to make more mounts! There are three sizes for the slide holder, one that fits paper and 1.5mm plastic mounts, one that fits 2mm plastic mounts, and one that fits 3mm metal mounts (like for old Argus projectors). The 2mm holder will also work for paper and thinner plastic mounts but they will be a little loose inside the holder. There are also two options for the extension tube, one has solid walls while the other has some cutouts in it to save material and printing time. I've printed the one with the cutouts and it feels solid enough, as long as you don't intentionally try to break it I think it will hold up ok. I use a flash for my exposure so ambient light isn't an issue but if you are in a bright room or using daylight outside as your light source the tube with cutouts might not work for you, as the light might get into / flare the lens (I just quickly tested this and it still seemed to work fine). So either print the solid tube or have some black construction paper handy to wrap around the tube with cutouts. The fit of the extension tube is meant to be snug but not too tight, so the slide holder can be rotated if needed but won't spin freely on it's own. The plastic and paper slides will fit vertically or horizontally in the holders but the metal slide mounts I modeled for have tabs sticking out of the top that throw off the centering, so instead of making it fit for both directions they only fit one way and I rotate the slide holder for slides that are oriented differently. My printer is usually within .15mm accuracy and the parts have worked well for me, some slightly looser and some slightly tighter. Let me know if you have any issues with parts fitting together.
