Pneumatic Ballistic Rocket (Tumble Recovery)

Pneumatic Ballistic Rocket (Tumble Recovery)

Description

We needed to entertain some kids at a party. We also wanted to test a joined-fin ballistic design, so as to print more rocket designs w/o support. This rocket is designed to be launched from an 8mm (read: "stick pen") launcher. This rocket is designed internally to support same. The walls are thin: use low pressure. Tumble recovery means what goes up, must come down - so use visible colors! After printing, smooth with sandpaper, then use a 5/16" drill bit to ensure a tight fit over the 8mm OD pen-tube. p.s: The slightly eccentric wing placement on the test rocket looked promising. Anyone want to do the math? NOTE: Use at your own risk. Do not fire at others, or in crowded / populated places. Wear head, eye, gloves, & other safety equipment. Use common sense. (i.e. Pneumatic rocketry is extremely dangerous. Hence, the best place to watch this thing under-pressure is from within a car, with the launcher being several feet higher than the same. Fire electronically from a SAFE DISTANCE, and at low pressure. Finally, tumble recovery means that this projectile can come down on someone's head - you have been warned!)
