spacer for Dörrex dryer - 2.5kg Spools

spacer for Dörrex dryer - 2.5kg Spools

Description

New Filament contains often too much humidity, even if it comes out of the box. You'll notice then the extrusion expanding immediatly after leaving the nozzle. If more water is contained in the filament, you will also see the nozzle spitting out vapour clouds. This is because the water in the filament becomes vapour. The vapour foams up the extrusion. btw: this is the main reason why so few people can print PVA support filament. It's hard to print because it contains a little humidity. Dry it and then it's easily printable as PLA. Instead of putting the filament spool into an oven, where the temperature is hardly controllable, you can use a fruit dryer. A fruit dryer is a kitchen aid that cotsts around 100 Euro. The temperature can be set to 40 to 70°C. The problem: a 2.5kg Filament spool is much bigger than pieces of fruits. This is why you need this spacer. Put that spacer between the dryer and the top lid and your spool fits smoothly. You can also stack 2 of these spacers one above the other and have 2 spools drying at the same time. This spacer fits the fruit dryer "Stöckli Dörrex". for PLA don't set the temp to above 55°. PETG is fine with up to 60°. Drying of a spool takes 20hrs or more. So if you by such a fruit dryer, take one without timer, as the timers allow only up to 10-15hrs drying. Print the spacer with PETG.
