Description

This is a modified laser module mount with a glider - For the knob, it was not made specifically for this application. Many knob designs do exist on Thingiverse. What it does: - Manually adjusting the focus by changing the z-hight over the table using a knob hold by the hexagonal head of a long 5mm screw. The knob diameter is 22mm only. There is no stop at the lower end of the rail. The files: - -glider v5 -base v3 Needed parts: - 1x screw M5 60-80mm, hex head 1x hex nut M5 1x Nylon lock nut M5 3 x screw 3mm x 10mm , countersunk or very flat head (do not go further into the body of the laser module) see the pictures 1x knob riding the head of the long screw , you are on your own but Thingiverse has a ton of knobs. How to make the tricky part - Surprise, the "unusable extra tight thing v5" works. (design/drawing made by subtracting the base part from virtual stock material, no play on the rail) https://thingiverse-production-new.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/9b/b4/3a/ca/72/supertight.jpg Here is the secret: After printing the slider let it cool down. Put the part under cold water or in the fridge. This lets it shrink a little. Put the slider on the base you have already printed before. Wait a while. Let the slider warm up to ambient temparature. Put some wood or plastic in between before hammering on it. Apply some brut force to move it back and force along the channel a few times. This scratches some exxessive plastic off of the parts. Remove the slider from the base then. Clean up the parts. Put some nonfluid Lithium- or Teflon- grease on the contact areas. (Take grease used for gears, slowly moving parts). Some poeple say, do not use lithium grease with parts made from plastic, do not know. Eventually put the slider on again. It makes a perfect friction fit now. Remixed from thing:3347604 But I made it smaller and more versatile. It is not strictly limited to be used on my Eleksmaker A3 laser cnc. Put it to almost any x-carriage of CNC, Laser, 3D printer you want. There is a 5mm nylon lockscrew below the top wall of the base. Made them using PLA - 0.2mm layer hight, fine mode - 80 percent infill Because of tight space the 3mm mount screws for the laser module have to be sunken. The head should sit flush with the slider surface. Some older pictures are showing the earlier made parts. The first made slider required some work after printing in order to make a fit with the 3mm screws heads. THE END
