Apollo DSKY, FDAI control panel
Description
So I started out by printing the Open DSKY by Pixelman and decided I wanted more of the Apollo control panel than what I had, so I went in and modeled a few of the surrounding panels so I could create a partial panel display for my desk. This just includes the 3 surrounding panels. So I didn't touch or modify the Open DSKY model at all, I printed as it is at 70% scale. The switch guards and switch toggles are the Apollo Switch Guard by ImAThingsGuy. Everything else was modeled by me. These models are ready to be printed at 100%, but only fit the DSKY when the DSKY is printed at 70% scale. Im sure they can be upscaled though to work with the 100% DSKY. Ive included the label jpgs that i used to my vinyl cutter to make the labels. This will require you print the apollo switch guard 16 times. it requires 4 switches for each bank. You will have to play with the scale and scale it down. once printed, I snapped off one side of the switch guard and put 4 together in a way so 2 switches shared 1 gaurd...see my finished pic to see what I mean. This will require a lot of bondo, sanding and custom parts. The FDAI ball was made from the plastic cover of a standard LED lightbulb. I used an arduino to add blinking LEDs to the DSKY and a sound card to play snips of Apollo 11 transmissions. I plan on finishing it out with a nice cherry wood custom wood box/frame. I will add more pictures when i finish.
