Traditional Asian (Japan, China, Korea etc.) Rice Measuring Cup

Traditional Asian (Japan, China, Korea etc.) Rice Measuring Cup

Description

This is the #1 item in the upcoming Asian measurement tool series which I will begin to design from this year, 2019. 1 Gou is a traditional rice measuring unit for 1 meal which fits 1 adult person. The unit uses the same ancient letter among China, Japan and Korea. It was originated from classic Chinese unit system but it was accurately defined by the Japanese in its Meiji era. Koreans followed the Japanese unit system during its colonial modernization process under Japan. 1 Gou(合) equals 180.39 ml in ISO unit system. It roughly equals 150 gram of short grain white rice. When it's cooked, the overall mass becomes 330 grams including the water in it. 330 grams of cooked short grain whit rice generates 429 Calories in the human body. https://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/usda/white-rice-(short-grain-cooked)?portionid=62458&portionamount=330.000 Detailed history and definitions could be looked up on Japanese wikipedia. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%90%88?fbclid=IwAR1S16laKz2-Ctrw71xTAxHlwYWLPBWsxT-t1b4TckasyPjBamQcNcmCU5M I designed it to be uniquely modern Asian with square handle which is large enough for two or three fingers of adult human. The overall design aesthetics will match the trend of the 21st century. Best wishes, Pao
