Pipboy stand
Description
(04/11/2020: Had a report of files not downloading correctly so I reuploaded all the parts) Based loosely on the Wand Company/in-game pipboy stand. I wanted a stand for my pipboy collection but needed to adjust the dimensions some to fit both the 76 version, and my resin pipboy 3000. I also wanted it to be able to wall mount horizontally should I decide to display them that way. Most parts will require some support due to overhangs and depending on desired print orientation. The main barrel, vent logo, and base upper/lower are all printable without support (at least for my Ender 3) though to get better surface quality I ended up printing visible sides up and using more support material. Assembly will require some screws. I designed around what I had available and don't have specifics on sizes/threads but something similar to the follow should work. 6 x 2mm / 5/64" fine thread for the bottom plate. 4 x 3mm / 7/64" course thread short for attaching the upright to the base plate and the inside screws for connecting the two uprights. 4 x 3mm / 7/64" course thread long for attaching the main barrel To assemble: 1: pass the UPRIGHT_INSIDE through the opening in the BASE_UPPER and use 2 short course screws to attach from the bottom. (there are two BASE_UPPER files. One that leaves the top smooth, and another that allows for a longer screw that should hold the upright in place a little better) 2: place the MAIN_BARREL onto the UPRIGHT_INSIDE and install the bottom two screws (upper two will pass through the outside). The main barrel can be rotated to place the seam on whichever side you prefer. 3: Snap the VENT_LOGO into the UPRIGHT_INSIDE. If you are installing the stand on a wall, you can rotate the logo to face the correct direction. 4: Clip the bottom of UPRIGHT_OUTSIDE into the space left in the base behind UPRIGHT_INSIDE, and rotate up to lock the two parts together. 5:Install the two longer screws to lock the inside/outside/ barrel together. Inside, below the main barrel are two more screw holes to farther hold the two uprights together (on my build, I ended up not needing these to hold the parts together, but left them in for anyone who needs to correct for warping. 6: Install BASE_LOWER with the 6 smaller screws from below. 7: Snap in the GRILL to the MAIN BARREL. Over time, the heavier Pipboy 3000 Mk.4 caused the stand to droop some. To prevent this, I recommend adding metal supports inside the uprights (I used steel rod epoxied into the upright_inside). I left room for both supports like these and wiring should you wish to add electronics inside. This was one of my first major multi-part designs, and it has some pretty big flaws. Overall, I'm happy with the results, and they are working well to display my props so far. I'm flagging this a WIP in case I ever decide to revisit this and make it stronger/more stable or easier to assemble.
