Diabase crash detector
Description
This thing can be used to mount the heatbed of the Diabase H-series on springs and to mount switches underneath the printbed to detect when a nozzle has crashed into the bed. This is usefull since the diabase H-series is so powerfull it will bend it's extruders before the motors stall, even when software stall detection (M915) is enabled. Note that this solution probably only works when you are not using the machine for milling and that you will loose the capability to easily take of the heatbed. For this solution the heatbed is mounted on compression springs of 19x13x1.2mm (7 turns, ends grounded flat). Underneath each corner a Cherry DB1C-C1RB microswitch is placed using a 3D printed mounting bracket. The springs are pre-tensioned by screwing a bolds into each of the pins of the heatbed. To keep the heatbed connector connected, the pcb with the heatbed connector is also mounted on a couple of springs salvaged from some pens and some m3x10 bolts. To make sure the heatbed can't move in the x and y direction and is able to expand when heated as good as possible, the heatbed's is only contrained in x and y with the front two pins. These front two pins are fully contrained by having a flat cone shaped nut being pressed into the mounting hole by the springs. The back nuts are only contrained in z by having the springs press a flat surface against the flat surface next to the mounting hole. The exact configuration of the front and back bolts is: front bolts: bolt M3x16mm big wing nut flated cone shaped nut (small wing nut with sawed off wings) m3 lock nut (din 985) back bolts: bolt M3x16mm m3 nut (din 934) big wing nut m3 lock nut (din 985) m3 nut (din 934) To make sure that the power on the motors is always shut down when a tool crashes into the bed, the normally connected terminals of the switches are mounted in series with the emergency stop. For me this resulted in the wiring diagram that is attached.
