Rubiks Cube Stand
Description
Basic shape for a nice and sturdy Rubiks Cube stand. Took all of about 2-3 minutes to design, since I couldn't find a simple and elegant cube stand that had enough density (75% infill density was good for me with PLA) for showcasing a solved Rubiks cube. Actual print took about 45-50 minutes. Comprised of three basic shapes, a distorted sphere, a subtracted bottom and the subtracted position for the cube itself. Simple but highly effective. Used Open Scad. Good to teach how to make things from basic shapes and show how parametric modeling works: Goal was to allow for Cube to be in a "motion" position so stand had to be less than size of a single square of the cube, so distance from bottom of square must be less than width of one square of a 3 by 3 Rubiks cube. (<=18.29mm) Tried it in white, black and silk silver PLA gave them away to coworkers that had cubes on their desks.
