Slim Cover for Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor + Arduino Sketch
Description
This is a minimalistic cover for the V1.2 Moisture Sensor. The print requires only about 4 grams of material. This cover requires desoldering the connector. To do so, I recommend sacrificing the connector by bending it upwards, cutting the the legs in the middle and then using a soldering iron to remove each of the remaining legs separately. A watering event is registered every time the soil is "Wet". The date of the watering event is then stored in the DS1302 clock module and you can even turn the Arduino off and power it on when you want to check on the plant. I recommend conducting your own tests to get the correct values [0,...,255] for your wet soil and dry soil. These values appear to vary between soils and sensors and depend on Vin (5V or 3.3V). My sketch on Github Here's what you will need to complete the sketch: 0.91 Inch 128x32 I2C OLED Display DS1302 Real Time Clock Module Note: I am currently working on a version of this sketch based on the DS3231 clock module. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments. Last edit: 13/05/2021
